Academic Activities

These are some academic and major-related activities of mine outside class.

CS 107 Teaching Assistant

I am a teaching assistant for CS 107, the intermediate introductory programming course at Stanford. Taught by Jerry Cain, it emphasizes systems-level programming and gets students completely comfortable with nitty-gritty pointers and C. The class website is cs107.stanford.edu.

SymSys Academic Advising Fellow

I'm one of the student point people for the Program in Symbolic Systems at Stanford. In addition to advising students at all levels, we put on events like the weekly speaker's forum or the Singularity Summit at Stanford. More information about Symbolic Systems can be found at the bottom navigation bar.

Computer Science Research

In summer 2007, I contributed to a research project on machine learning and natural language processing led by Prof. Daphne Koller. The project aims to create games that will trick users into provide a linguistically meaningful sequence of labeled data. It's part of SRC and CURIS at Stanford and run under Daphne's Approximate Group of Students. Check out the wordgames here. (Paper published in EMNLP 08.)
