Templates & Tools

Stanford Modern (current) and Stanford Retro templates are available for use by departments and officially-approved groups. Sandstone and Tile is for non-departmental or personal use. SUNet ID required for “official” templates.


HTML & CSS Style Guide

IT Services’ publications team maintains the current Stanford web templates to comply strictly with XHTML 1.0 and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) standards set by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).


Accessibility

The Stanford Online Accessibility Program (SOAP) web site outlines best practices and legal issues, and offers lots of tips, tricks and tutorials geared toward web designers and developers.


Graphics & Art

In addition to the graphics that come with the University’s downloadable templates (see above), there are a number of sources for Stanford-appropriate graphic elements, from favicons to buttons to campus photographs.


Rich Media

A wide variety of media formats and delivery technologies are already in use to stream Stanford content over the Web.
