Getting started

Message waiting light on but no messages?

You may have messages on the legacy system. To check, dial 3-2000.

Before you can use any of the procedures described here, you must initialize your mailbox. If you have questions about the details of your particular voice mail installation, consult your Department IT Contact.

Standard parameters for voice mailboxes (e.g., when calls are forwarded, the number of messages you can store, etc.) are described on the Mailbox Types page.

What's new and different

The new system introduces some changes and enhancements. The number you dial to check your messages has changed. When prompted, you'll need to use your full ten-digit phone number. And, a number of keys are different in the new system.

See the What's New and Different? page for more information about these and other changes. Check out the New Features section for a list of enhancements.

Key Tips

Key Tip

Extended absence greeting:

  • 4
  • 6
  • 1

Throughout the voice messaging instruction pages you'll find shortcuts for common tasks, labeled Key Tip. You can use these key sequences after you have logged in to the voicemail system to quickly reach a sub-menu without listening to each system prompt. In the example above, pressing 4 (Personal Options) 6 (Other Greetings) 1 (Extended Absence Greeting) in sequence takes you directly to the Extended Absence recording function.
