Phone, network connection, and cable TV
Phone service comes in two forms: basic and additional.
Basic phone service. Stanford provides basic phone service, including a telephone and a network connection, with multiple IP addresses in every residence. This service is paid for by the Telecom Fee and will be billed through your housing bill. You don't have to worry about connecting basic service when you arrive or disconnecting it when you leave. For more information, refer to the Rescomp Telecommunication Fee FAQ.
The basic phone line, as well as the in-room network connections, will be active when you arrive.
Additional phone service If you want your own personal phone service, you can subscribe to optional service. With the additional phone service subscription you can also add a phone feature package of voice mail and caller ID. You order the additional phone service on axess.stanford.edu at your My IT Services Site. Unlike basic service, additional service requires that you assume responsibility for disconnecting. Cable TV is an optional service which can be ordered for a monthly fee (students must provide their own television set).
What do I need to do?
The only thing for you to do is to register your Computer online by going to: rescomp.stanford.edu
To order optional services
Sign up online from a Residence Computer Cluster, public cluster, or from the comfort of your room. To sign up for cable, select myitservices from the Axess portal at http://axess.stanford.edu. Detailed service signup instructions are also available.
Note: You must have your room assignment before you can sign up for services.
