International Long Distance Service

Stanford's international long distance service requires the use of an access code, or PBN (personal billing number). In order to place international long distance calls on campus, you must sign up for this service and obtain a PBN.

Standard PBN Billing

The telephone system prompts callers dialing an international long distance number to enter their individual PBN. PBN billing provides you with an individual bill that includes only the long distance charges you incur using your personal code. You are responsible to pay all charges incurred on calls placed using your PBN. To review these charges, you can go to "View Bill" at the My IT Services tab in Axess

Alternative Long Distance Service

Instead of signing up for a PBN and using Stanford’s service, you can place long distance calls from your residence with calling cards provided by another long distance carrier (e.g., Sprint, MCI). If you do order a card from another carrier, you will have to sign up as a non-subscriber. In other words, you cannot use your Stanford telephone number as the basis for this type of card. You may also place long distance calls using a major credit card (e.g., Visa, etc.). Be aware that some carriers assess surcharges in addition to their standard rates when you place calls using a calling or credit card.
