You can subscribe online after you have checked in at your residence and have picked up your room key. Once you've paid the in-person service request, you will take the receipt back to Conference Services at Encina Hall for the service request to be processed. About Stanford Telephone Service ...

Stanford University telephone service allows you to:

  • place unlimited calls to on-campus and local off-campus locations,
  • receive calls directly (i.e., without operator intervention).

Additionally, you can place international long distance calls. To do so, you must:

  • use a calling card from a Bell operating company (e.g., SBC, NYNEX) or a long-distance carrier
    (e.g., AT&T, MCI, Sprint);
  • use a major credit card (e.g., American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa); or
  • call collect or charge to a third party (e.g., your home).

The primary long distance provider is AT&T. Rates are based on location called, time of day, duration of call and payment method (calling card or credit card).

When you check in and receive your room key, you will be given your telephone number and a handout with instructions for dialing. Please feel free to share your phone number with anyone you would like to be able to reach you directly (guest numbers are not listed with the University Operator).

Stanford telephones are provided and supported by the University's IT Division, Information Technology Services. If you have any problems or questions about your service before, during, or after your stay, contact the Stanford IT Help Desk at 650.725.HELP(4357).
