Smoothing the Transition Between Windows and the Mac

Are you a Windows user? Are you thinking of getting a Mac? Find out how easy it is to switch to the Mac, even if you've never used one. In this hour, we'll discuss the major differences between the user interfaces of Microsoft Windows XP and Mac OS X. Learn those differences and you'll make your transition from Windows to the Mac as easy as Apple…

As a Technical Training Mentor in Apple's IT training department, Beth Macom wrote Introduction to Mac OS X for Technical Professionals, the basic course for technically proficient Windows "switchers."

Ms. Macom holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin and has been a technical editor for Dell, Cisco, and IBM. She's currently with Apple Computer Retail Training.

ReportMart1 Upgrade

ReportMart1, the portal (web site) that is used to access PeopleSoft, STARS, Kronos, Pinnacle, DSS, Space Mgmt, R&DE, and CAMS legacy reports, was upgraded on 7/31/2006 to replace Brio with Hyperion Performance Suite (HPS). The portal architecture has changed significantly, but the actual reports remain basically unchanged.

Would you like to learn more about this upgrade? Representatives of the ReportMart1 team will demo the new portal and discuss the changes involved in this upgrade. Topics will include: new URLs; documentation; the plug-in installation for PC users; "Connect" (vs. "MyApps") for Mac users; improved searching; bookmarks and favorites; procedures for exporting data and saving/rerunning reports locally; known issues; and Q&A.

PC users can access the new portal (new plug-in installation required) at:
https://reportmart1.stanford.edu
Mac users can access the new portal (Citrix installation required) at:
http://connect.stanford.edu
