Remedy 7.0 Jumpstart

In this session, Ammy Hill and Chris Lundin of IT Services will be going through an overview of the changes to Remedy and HelpSU. They will look at some minor changes to HelpSU and also go over some fabulous new features in Remedy:

- the ability to create a personal “signature file” for emails sent from Remedy,
- the ability to create Tasks and assign them to other groups while maintaining control of the original ticket
- the new web-based client that will allow easy access for Macintosh users
- quick access from computers where Remedy is not installed.

Drupal

Drupal is a free, open-source modular framework and content management system (CMS) written in the programming language PHP. Drupal, like many modern CMSs, allows the system administrator to organize the content, customize the presentation, automate administrative tasks, and manage site visitors and contributors. Although there is a sophisticated programming interface, most tasks can be accomplished with little or no programming. Drupal is sometimes described as a "web application framework", as its capabilities extend from content management to enabling a wide range of services and transactions.

Wikis: Growing Wiki Use in Teaching and Research

Looking to spur wiki adoption? Want to grow from 10 users to 100, 1000, or more? Wikis are the future of classroom and research collaboration, so improving adoption and effective use in teaching and research is key to realizing benefits such as more deeply engaged students, constantly refined curriculum materials and more streamlined research from data gathering to journal publication. Want to know more about how to achieve this?

Stewart Mader will share strategies he has gathered on wiki adoption from his own experience teaching, collaboratively developing curriculum materials and working with the likes of Brown University and Johns Hopkins University. He'll discuss Wikipatterns.com and the practice of applying patterns to help coordinate peoples' efforts and guide the growth of content, as well as recognizing and resolving anti-patterns that might otherwise hinder growth, so that your wiki has the best chance of success.

Stewart Mader works with business, academic, and non-profit organizations to grow vibrant collaborative communities. He is Wiki Evangelist for Atlassian, publishes Blog on Wiki Patterns (www.ikiw.org), and founded Wikipatterns.com. He is the author of two books: Wikipatterns: a practical guide to improving productivity and collaboration in your organization, which is being published by Wiley in early 2008, and Using Wiki in Education , an online book on how the wiki is transforming education and research.

When Adobe purchased Macromedia, many thought the Fireworks product would be eliminated, since both Photoshop and Fireworks are image editors. What's the difference between the two applications?
