Overview
Technology Training Services oversees five training facilities, including Turing Auditorium, one hands-on Macintosh/Windows lab, and three hands-on Windows labs. Turing Auditorium, the Macintosh/Windows lab (POST), and one Windows lab (PHIL) are located in the Jordan Quad area of campus (near the corner of Campus Drive West and Panama St.). Two Windows labs are located at the IT Services Arguello Labs (formerly called Encina Modular B), 427 Arguello Way, off of Serra Street, next to Encina Hall. These facilities are available for use on a fee basis (Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to Stanford departments and groups; off-campus groups may rent the facilities if they are sponsored by a Stanford group that provides a university account number (PTA).
Priority in scheduling is given to staff training in university administrative applications and to the regular courses offered by Technology Training Services. After these classes have been scheduled each quarter, rental requests are given consideration on a space-available, first-come first-served basis.
To reserve a facility, first check its availability at http://techtrainingcalendar.stanford.edu/.
Once you have found the dates and times you want, fill out and submit the Facility Rental Request Form. One of our our staff will contact you regarding your request. Following are descriptions of the facilities.
Turing Auditorium, Polya Hall Room 111

- Lecture hall seating for 80 with PC and Mac connected to a 2-projector, 2-screen audio-visual system, using a touch panel interface; wireless access to SUNet
- DVD/VHS/VCR player with campus cable and satellite-cable access, connected to A-V system
- Wireless microphones: two lapel mics, and two hand-held mics
- Macintosh is an Apple 17" Flat-Panel G4 iMac, 1GHz, 1GB RAM, 80GB HD, CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive, Mac OS X with Classic
- PC is a Dell Optiplex GX280, 2.8GHz P4, 1.0GB RAM, 40GB HD, Windows XP Pro SP2, CD-ROM Drive, Floppy Drive, 17-in Flat Panel LCD Monitor
- Rate: $60/hour (2-hour minimum time blocks)

Polya Hall Instructional Lab (PHIL), Polya Hall Room 170B

- Windows PC hands-on classroom with seating for 16 plus one instructor's station connected to a ceiling-mounted projector

Professional Office Systems Training (POST), Redwood Hall Room G6

- POST is a hands-on classroom with seating for 18 plus one instructor's station connected to a ceiling-mounted projector
- Rate: $75/hour (4-hour minimum time blocks, i.e., 8-12 or 1-5)

Other Equipment and Services
In addition to the equipment described above, each classroom comes equipped with whiteboards, an overhead projector, an easel, a telephone, and a shared printer (except there is no printer in Turing).
Document Camera Available! Do you need to demonstrate the use of a device, such as a PDA, circuit board, or telephone, to an audience? Our new document camera allows you to project solid objects onto a screen, instead of having to use simulations or transparencies. The document camera is available for use when you rent one of our facilities. Please indicate if you would like to use it when you make your reservation.
Our Macintosh computers have built-in DVD players. Turing Auditorium has a DVD/VHS/VCR player as part of the A-V system. None of the PC classrooms have DVD players at present.
If you are having a campus event and would like to share it with Internet users across campus or around the world, IT Services can Webcast your event. Webcasting can provide a live digital video and audio stream (or audio only, if you prefer) that anyone can access to watch and experience your event while it is taking place.
