Registration Information
On this page:
Online registration available in STARS (if using STAP funds)
STARS (Stanford Training and Registration System) is a web-based tool intended to help faculty, staff, and visitors find and register for the training they need. Stanford's academic course registration system and CourseWork are not affected by STARS.
STARS is available via the Axess Portal at http://axess.stanford.edu. A SUNet ID is required. (Please see the "What's Needed to Login" section on that page for more login details.)
Note: If you are paying course fees using ONLY STAP funds, then follow the
instructions below to enroll online in STARS.
To register for IT Services courses online (using STAP funds) in STARS:
|
Paper Registration (if using PTA, Hospital Tuition Assistance, or personal funds)
If you are paying course fees using any combination of University account number (PTA), Hospital Tuition Assistance, or personal funds, you must use the paper registration form. Please download the form, fill it out, and fax it to us at 725-0995.
Confirmation
You should receive enrollment confirmation via email soon after you enroll. If you receive no such notification prior to class, call 723-4391 to confirm your registration.
Course Fees
You may pay for course fees with any combination of STAP funds, Hospital Tuition Assistance, University department funds, or personal check. If you are a University employee (other than a faculty member) and are working at least half time, the Staff Training Assistance Program (STAP) may pay your course fees up to $800 per fiscal year. If you are using STAP funds to pay for IT Services course fees, then you will be able to enroll yourself online in STARS. If you are using any other method of payment, you will not be able to self-enroll in STARS at this time; use the paper registration form.
Cancellations / Refunds
To drop a class, use the online registration program in STARS or call 723-4391 if you registered using a paper registration form.
If you drop a fee class at least five full business days prior to the class, you will receive a full refund. No refund will be given after this time.
Classes with insufficient enrollment may be cancelled by the training provider. Should this occur, you will be notified and your fee, if any, will be refunded.
Late Arrival
If you are over 10 minutes late to class, your seat may be given to someone on the waiting list. Please be prompt. If you cannot attend a class or will be late, we would appreciate a call (723-4391).
Wait List
If the class for which you wish to enroll is full, sign up anyway. Often, people on the wait list get into classes. You will not be charged if you are on the wait list and do not get into the class.
Your Training History
Course history from Fall 2004 through Spring 2005 was imported from Prism into STARS. To see this history and more recent training you may have completed, go to "Learning History" in the STARS menu. Course history prior to Fall 2004 is still available in the Prism file TRAINING REGISTRATION. To view and/or print out this prior history:

- SELECT TRAINING REGISTRATION at the "Response" prompt.
- Enter your name or University ID number.
- Enter your PIN number. If you don't know or recall your PIN, please submit a HelpSU ticket. For information about changing your PIN, go to http://www.stanford.edu/services/mainframe/reset-pin.html.
- Follow the instructions on the Welcome screen to find your (or someone else's) record.
- Press F9 or type PRINT at the "Response" prompt to have your record emailed to you or someone else (then print from your email).
If you don't have access to Spires or you would simply rather have us retrieve your record for you, just give us a call at 723-4391 or send us email at techtraining@stanford.edu.
Special Accommodations for the Disabled
If you have special needs, every effort will be made to make our training facilities accessible to you. To request disability accommodations, contact the appropriate training provider (see list above) at least ten days before your class.
