Service Overview
When new buildings are constructed on campus or major renovations to existing buildings are planned, IT Services is involved to guide the design of communication entry facilities/wiring as well as all internal wiring for voice-data-video services. A Project Team is assembled and guided by CAM Service Management in Forsythe-145. This team works with project managers from campus Capital Planning & Management, Construction Services, or the Medical Center Design and Construction group. The CAM Service Manager also works directly with the client/s to script and coordinate service delivery from IT Services. The CAM Service Manager gathers information from clients about voice-data-video needs and submits service orders to activate phones, modems, FAX, voicemail and other services as requested by the client groups.
Cost of Service: Costs for major projects vary based on the actual project scope of work and required services requested by the client group/s. Specific project costs will be provided by the CAM Service Manager assigned.
Turn around time of request: A Service Manager will be assigned to work with you and provide information on project support from IT Services covering timelines and deliverables.

The IT Services Facilities Engineering Group located in Puichon Hall managed by Bob Moya, 723-0379, bobmoya@stanford.edu works with project management personnel to arrange all communication wiring feeds and deployment within the building.
- Who installs the new wiring within the building?
Facility Engineering creates a work-scope bid package and secures pricing from qualified wiring contractors who install interior wiring under the direction of Facilities Engineering.
- Who provides the network equipment for the building?
IT Services can provide all the network switches and port activations needed -if- the department subscribes to the Net-to-Jack Program, otherwise department network managers are responsible for purchasing, installing, configuring, and activating network service in each office/classroom. IT Services Net Ops will provide network consulting to facilitate equipment selection and also provide the SUNet Network Activation Device (NAD) identifying where the client may connect to SUNet.
- How are basic phones activated?
The CAM Service Manager gathers information from department designates and coordinates the move of existing phones from offices in other buildings or activation of new phones/lines. The IT Services Field Operations Group managed by Frances Locke, 725-0523, GC.FML@FORSYTHE.stanford.edu performs the actual activations in each office.
- How do I get CATV (cable TV) activated?
The CAM Service Manager will arrange activation of CATV service as part of the overall client service activations as requested by the client.
- Who can I talk to about Card Services, Building Entry, Vending, etc?
The CAM Service Manager will work with project managers and clients to outline Card Service offerings and applications.
- Who handles phone service for contractors working at the construction site?
The CAM Service Manager will arrange contractor phone lines in construction trailers or construction site offices. Each contractor should call the SM directly to request phone activations.
- Who can give me a budgetary estimate for communications in a new building?
The CAM Service Manager will provide a budgetary estimate for communication wiring/activations based on initial input from project management.
