Kerberos Configuration Utility for Macintosh

Overview
Kerberos is a network authentication protocol designed to provide strong authentication for client/server applications. Stanford services that require Kerberos authentication include Stanford OpenAFS.
Kerberos is already built-in to Mac OS X. The Kerberos Configuration
Utility for Macintosh configures Kerberos for use with
the Stanford network.
Installing the Kerberos Configuration Utility
- Download and run the Kerberos Configuration Utility installer.
- At the Welcome window, click Continue.

- When the license agreement is displayed, read it and click Continue. Then, click Agree to accept the terms of the licence agreement and continue with the installation.
- When prompted to select a destination, click the icon for where you want to install this software and then click Continue.

- Click Install to begin the installation.

- When prompted, enter your Administrator account for the Mac and click OK.

- Check the box for Enable Single Sign-on (SSO) and then click OK.

- Click OK to close the displayed message.

- When the installation has completed, click Close.

Authenticating to Kerberos
- When a service at Stanford requires Kerberos authentication, a dialog box will prompt you for your username, realm, and password. Enter the following information and then click OK:
- Username: your SUNet ID
- Realm: stanford.edu
- Password: your SUNet ID password
Note: If the entry fields are not displayed, click anywhere in the dialog box to expand it.

Note: If Stanford Desktop Tools is installed, you can also bring up the login prompt by holding the mouse and clicking (or right-clicking or CONTROL + clicking) the Stanford Desktop tools icon
and clicking Authenticate to Kerberos . Your Kerberos authentication
is in effect for 25 hours.
