Stanford Email & Calendar

Send Mail with Attachments

With Stanford Email and Calendar, email messages can include attachments. You can attach documents, spreadsheets, pictures, slide shows, and other types of files. Recipients of your email message must have the appropriate software to open and read the file. Common file formats such as text files, HTML files, and images such as GIF or JPEG files can be opened in a variety of programs. Unfortunately, unlike other email clients, you cannot drag and drop attachments to the new message window.

Attach a File to an Email Message

  1. Compose the email message.
  2. Click Add Attachment. The Attach File(s) dialog appears.
  3. Either click Browse in Firefox and Internet Explorer (IE), or click Choose File in Safari to locate the file.
  4. Select the file and in Firefox and IE, click Open, or in Safari click Choose File. The file name appears in the Attach field.
  5. Add up to five attachments repeating steps 3 and 4. For more attachments, click Add More Attachments to attach more files.
  6. When ready to attach all files to the email, click Attach. The compose window appears with the attachments in the header.
  7. Click Send to send the message and the attachments.
