Important Things to Know
Fighting viruses | Dealing with spam | Email storage space | Email after Stanford | Lost some email?
Stanford has anti-virus and anti-spam measures built into the mail system. We urge that you battle these mail scourges at your desktop too. How and where you store your email is important: if you run out of room your email program stops working properly. As for email after Stanford, yes, it exists. You just have to prepare for it.
Mailing Lists
Stanford mailing list service | Class email lists
Mailing lists are an everyday part of Stanford email life, and you can start your own. Instructors use class email lists so they can more easily send announcements to everyone associated with their course.
Using Email Off-campus
Email from off-campus | Email off the network | Webmail
If you're off-campus you can connect to the Stanford network via modem or DSL. If you're off the Stanford network -- traveling, say, or at home connecting via an ISP -- you can still send email by tweaking your email program and connecting remotely. No matter where you are, access to a Web browser gives you access to Webmail.
