Eudora for Windows to Thunderbird Conversion

Free Options

Thunderbird comes with built in importers for Eudora. These importers will integrate attachments for incoming and outgoing messages, but message status is lost and imports can take a long period of time.

The Penelope Project (the project developing the open source version of Eudora) has written some significantly improved importers that will be included with a future version of Thunderbird. IT Services is currently attempting to ascertain the timeline for their inclusion and will post that information here when it is available.

For now, users may want to wait to import Eudora mail into Thunderbird, pending the release of these revised importers. For those who need to urgently need to do an import, please submit a HelpSU request for information on how you could try the revised importers now.

Commercial Utilities

IT Services has not yet found a commercial third party utility that handles the import as well as the new Thunderbird importers mentioned above.
