All members of the Stanford community are assigned a University ID number: it’s the 8 digit number above the picture on your University ID card (StanfordCard).
A SUNet ID is a 3 to 8 character "username" which, along with your password, proves that you are affiliated with Stanford and are eligible to use its computing infrastructure and most of its computing services. The SUNet ID web site lets you request a SUNet ID or reset your password. Pages linked below also explain eligibility and the different service levels available, how to sponsor someone’s SUNet ID (or be sponsored), how to obtain a guest account, and how to obtain guest access on the University’s centrally-provided wireless network.
Go to sunetid.stanford.edu and click on the "Check status/Reset password" link.
