For more detailed information on disconnecting your services, see the paragraphs below.
Undergraduate Students
Telephone and Cable TV Service
- IT Services will disconnect all telephone, telephone features, and Cable TV service in undergraduate residences in June.
- Telephone, voice mail, or Cable TV subscribers leaving campus for the summer do not need to contact IT Services with a date to disconnect, since shut-off of these services is automatic. Disconnection of these services takes place the Monday after graduation. IT Services prorates monthly charges based on the disconnect date.
- Want to disconnect before June? It is the responsibility of the service subscriber to place an order to disconnect services.
- Digital cable subscribers: you must return your digital cable box or you will be charged a $449.95 fee for the unreturned box. Return your cable box at one of the following locations:
- Escondido Village housing service center, 859 Escondido Rd.
- Florence Moore housing service center, 436 Mayfield Ave.
- Governors Corner housing service center, 589 Governors Ave.
- Lagunita housing service center, 326 Santa Teresa St.
- Stern Hall housing service center, 618 Escondido Rd.
- Wilbur and Mirelees housing service center, 658 Escondido Rd.
- Manzanita housing service center, 661 Escondido Rd.
- If you will be remaining in your current room during the summer, you must contact IT Services by the Friday before graduation to assure continued telephone and cable TV service.
- If you will be moving to another campus room, you will need to place an order for new service after you receive your new room key. Be sure to verify that your current service is disconnected.
PBN and Calling Card Service
- Your Personal Billing Number (PBN) and calling card, for billing long distance calls, remain active for your entire stay at Stanford.
- If you are graduating or will not be returning to Stanford, it is the subscriber responsibility to disconnect their long distance (PBN) and calling card service.
Cellular Service
- Student cellular service is changing! On June 19, 2005, Stanford cellular service will no longer be available. If you would like to continue cellular service, you must transfer your service to a personal account. The transfer will entitle you to a 15% monthly discount and a new GSM phone. Here's how:
- Contact AT&T at 1-800-888-7600
- Ask to be transferred to a "Change of Financial Responsibility" representative
- Be prepared to provide the following information:
- Social security number
- Driver's license number
- Stanford University ID number
- You will also need to provide the AT&T representative with one of the following Stanford group discount numbers:
- 32881 (for GSM service) or
- 22059 (for TDMA service)
This will ensure your 15% monthly discount.
Important! This change must take place before June 19 to ensure that your cell phone service is not interrupted.
In-Room Network Connection
- Disconnect your In-Room Network Connection at the ResComp computing web site at http://rescomp.stanford.edu. Students in undergraduate residences are automatically disconnected in mid-June, so you need not discontinue your service if you are leaving at the end of Spring Quarter. If you are staying on campus, you must update your service information, which you can also do at the same web site.
