Update on June 2008 Laptop Theft Case
July 1, 2009
In June 2008 a laptop was stolen which contained confidential personal information for current and certain former Stanford employees. At the time of the incident, Stanford reached out to notify all affected individuals and offered credit monitoring and identity rehabilitation services for one year. During that year, there was no evidence that any of the personal information was inappropriately accessed or used. Although the perpetrator of the crime has not been identified and the laptop was not recovered, Stanford considers the matter closed.
