Declaring a Major

Biology, or HumBio, computer science, economics, English and psychology are the most popular majors at Stanford but there are roughly 60 majors that students can pursue, from interdisciplinary to individually-designed majors. Requirements to complete a major constitute approximately one-third of a student's 180 units required for graduation. Undergraduates are not expected to declare a major until late in their sophomore year, and students also can pursue a second major, declare a minor or even define a course of study of their own choosing by designing their own major.
