The Job Search / Graduate School
Students turn to the Career Development Center (CDC) when they begin to focus on after-graduation employment. In addition to one-on-one counseling sessions with the CDC's staff, resources and events at the center include:
- A career resource library
- Alumni and mentor programs
- Workshops on resumes and cover letters, interview strategies, negotiating job offers and other issues
- Career fairs, including one in October with recruiters from more than 300 employers
- A job and internship listing service for employers
Not all students, of course, seek employment immediately after graduating. Roughly one-third of seniors go on to graduate school the year after leaving Stanford, according to a 1998 CDC survey, which also showed that law and medicine are among the most popular graduate school pursuits for seniors.
