A recurring theme in temperance materials is the monetary wastefulness of drink.  This tract, however, is unique in that it does not appeal to the reason of those who drink in an attempt to convince them to change.  Instead, it takes a light-hearted tone, and points out the inherent folly of excessive drinking.  Such tracts did much to alter the social norms associated with the drinking of alcohol.
