Welcome to Stanford Wushu

Stanford Wushu is a student organization devoted to the practice and promotion of the Chinese sport and martial art of wushu.

What is Wushu? Have a look around this website and take a look at our Wushu trailer to find out. You can also come to one of our classes and see for yourself.

Our training classes meet on the Stanford campus twice a week and run throughout the year. Feel free to stop by and observe or bring your sweats and actually try out a couple of classes.

Additional information about Stanford Wushu and wushu in general can be found throughout this site. We hope you find this challenging sport as fun and exciting as we do.

See you in class!

Flyering
We will be flyering Tuesday, Jan. 5 to get more people to join wushu! Come to the tables outside Fraiche at 7pm if you're interested in helping out! Freshmen especially welcome, it's a great bonding experience. Please bring tape/staplers if you have them!

Winter Classes
Wushu for the winter quarter will begin on Monday, January 4, in the Arrillaga Center For Sports and Recreation. As always, beginners with no previous martial arts experience are welcome to try out our practices. The last practice of the quarter will be on Mar. 12, the last Friday of dead week. There are two holidays this quarter, MLK day on Jan. 18 and Presidents' Day on Feb. 15. On both Mondays, there will be no practice.

Wushu for Class Credit
Wushu is offered for class credit. To take Wushu for credit, sign up for ATHLETIC 181M (under T. Ghormley) for 1 unit. The class is offered for C/NC based on attendance.

Identification Required
The Arrillaga Center For Sports and Recreation, where Wushu practice is held, requires people who use the facility to be associated with the university. For Stanford students this means you must always bring your SUID in order to get into the building. Non-students, who are interested in taking Wushu or just trying out a few classes should contact Claudia Chern to be put on a list for the Arrillaga Center (this will allow them to enter and practice in the Arrillaga Center)
