Laura Harrison, Ed.D.
Assistant Dean and Director
lauramh@stanford.edu
I came to Stanford in 2000 to direct the Women's Community Center and have been inspired by the vision, hard work, and dedication of this community ever since. I truly believe in the idea that the full enfranchisement of women is key to solving most of the problems facing the world, and being a part of this work has been a great privilege. My academic interests focus on how individuals can affect change in organizations (the topic of my dissertation and current book in process). When I'm not working, I enjoy swimming, the theater, and hanging out with my partner, Stephanie, and dog, Chopstick.
Faith Kazmi
Assistant Director
fkazmi@stanford.edu
Hello, Im the Assistant Director of the Womens Community Center, and work closely with womens student organizations, graduate womens programming, and the Stanford Womens Leadership Conference. The critical thinking and conversations that emerge in the center regarding the intersections of identity, feminism, social justice, and leadership consistently inspire me in my work here. On a personal note, I recently traveled to Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand, which helped to inform my research interest in the influence of international service experiences on identity and leadership -- so if youve traveled, Id love to hear about your adventures abroad!

Irene Onyeneho
Graduate Program Coordinator
Biology, 2nd Year Ph.D. student
ireneo@stanford.edu
I think the women's center is a great space for Stanford women of all ages. Being a grad student can be difficult, I mean, everyone here is too young to remember all my favorite old TV shows, like Thirtysomething and Head of the Class, or can relate to my obsession with New Kids on the Block. Come by the women's center, I'd love to meet you and talk about chromosomes.

Lori Flores
Multicultural Graduate Program Coordinator
History, 3nd Year Ph.D. student
laflores@stanford.edu
I'm a 4th year Ph.D. candidate in history specializing in 20th century Mexican-American labor, gender and civil rights history. I have TA'd for Intro to Feminist Studies and U.S. Women's History (1890's-1990's) under Prof. Estelle Freedman, and have taught my own seminar on the history of Mexican-American women in the U.S. This is my 3rd year serving as one of the WCC's Graduate Programming Coordinator. Every year I've learned different things about how to facilitate better academic and social programs for Stanford's graduate women, and am especially passionate about providing an additional welcoming space on campus for graduate women of color to network, socialize, and thrive.

Fatima Abdullah Hassan
Sexual Assault Prevention Program Coordinator
Human Biology Major, class of 2009
fhassan@stanford.edu
I'm a senior studying Human Biology (with emphasis on International Health and Development) and I'm returning to staff this year as the Sexual Assault Prevention Program Coordinator. I am also currently a research assistant with the Stanford University Eritrean Maternal Health Project and have traveled to Uganda and Rwanda with Americans for UNFPA. This recent trip has cemented my passion to raise awareness and advocate for women around the world who have been traumatized by sexual and gender based violence. I enjoy hanging out with people over warm drinks and talking for hours about global issues that affect our generation. I also love ethnic foods, art, talking about my 7 brothers and sisters and about growing up in a small town in Texas.

Kate Benham
WVSO and Outreach Coordinator
Feminist Studies, class of 2009
kbenham@stanford.edu
Hi! My name is Kate, I am a pre-med senior majoring in Feminist Studies, with a focus in women's reproductive health and sexuality. I work at the WCC to provide an outlet for expression and empowerment for women on campus. In my free time I enjoy sweatpants, coffee, and literature/indie music snobbery.

Allyson Stewart
Women's Leadership Conference Coordinator
Public Policy, class of 2009
aws@stanford.edu
Hi! My name is Allyson and I'm working at the Women's Leadership Conference Coordinator this year. During fall and winter quarter we will be seeking out dynamic women leaders to speak at our conference this spring. I am particularly interested in supporting the work of female social entrepreneurs on campus, so please come by and share your ideas. I also like to scour the local farmers markets delicious organic food, watch foreign language films (to keep up my spanish, mandarin, and french), and talk about blended value investing.

Maryam Liaqat
Academic and NSO Coordinator
Biological Sciences Major, Class of 2009
mliaqat@stanford.edu
I was born and raised in Lahore, Pakistan. I'm currently a Senior at Stanford, pursuing a Major in Human Biology focusing on International Women's Health. I love poetry and have taken a couple of poetry classes at Stanford. I learnt how to ride a horse before I knew how to ride a bike. Previously I was also the Sexual Assault Prevention Program Coordinator and Women's Leadership Conference Coordinator and at WCC. Outside of the Women's Center, I'm actively involved with SIRUM, AKPsi, and PaS.

Cristina Munoz
Tech and Miscellany Coordinator
Environmental Engineering, class of 2010
cjmunoz@stanford.edu
Hey, I'm Cristina. The Women's Center has really been a home to me during my time here at Stanford, and I cherish the privilege to be part of such an intelligent, motivated and welcoming community. I'm interested in feminist and LGBT activism in the US and abroad, and hope to one day contribute in a significant way to these initiatives. Otherwise, I'm a nerdy engineer, and part time code-monkey. Upon graduating, I will move to Peru and pursue a nomadic lifestyle to learn about fresh water use and availability in Andean indigenous populations.

Kelly Nigh
Publicity Coordinator
Computer Science, class of 2010
knigh@stanford.edu
Ever since the 3rd grade, when I dressed up as "Kelly Nigh the Science Guy" for career day, I have known both that I wanted to enter the sciences, and that I am definitely not a guy. As a woman in the male-dominated field of computer science, I recognize how important organizations such as the Women's Community Center are for providing students with guidance and support. In my second year as a WCC staff member, I hope to extend the opportunities the Center provides to many more students. Besides the WCC, I enjoy learning about computer interface design (HCI); I love dogs, coffee, and bargain shopping.

Amy Herbertson
Publicity Coordinator
African Studies, class of 2011
aherbtsn@stanford.edu
I love my job as Publicity Coordinator for the WCC because it blends my passions for people, art, and social issues! I grew up in a small town in the foothills of Los Angeles, and the only thing better than spending time in the great outdoors is hanging out at that bowling alley at Hollywood and Highland (with my trusty Nalgene bottle, of course). I live in a co-operative house now, which has taught me so much about peace, symmetry, and tenderness; things that I will apply in my work at in the Women's Center, and in my life.

Nimi Mastey
Herstory and Internship Program Coordinator
Human Biology, class of 2010
nimi@stanford.edu
Hey, My name is Nimi and I'm stoked about working at the women's center this year. I'm passionate about women in the performing arts, especially cheerleading and synchronized swimming. In my free time I enjoy reading comic books, watching Bill O'Reilly, and practicing my calligraphy.

Desiree Fabunan
Women at Work Program Coordinator
Management Science and Engineering, class of 2009
dfabunan@stanford.edu
I am really excited to work at the Women's Center so I can meet a lot of new people and continue the exciting and meaningful work undertaken here. Recently I have become interested in trying new things-anything from different extreme (and not so extreme) sports to quiet activities. Come by and chat, I would love to meet you!
