El Camino Real
The Spanish built 21 missions, in all, by 1823. Linking all the missions was El Camino Real, the "King’s" or "Royal" Highway running from Baja, California to San Francisco. The map on top depicts “El Camino Real." The map on the bottom depicts modern-day Highway 101.
