At Stanford

"Regan's strength will be as a shooter," said VanDerveer. "No doubt, she will be considered a zone-buster. As is the case with most freshmen, we will have to wait to see how well she can run the floor and play "D". That will be the key in her making the transition between the high school ranks and college ball."...At 6-0, the shortest recruit of a very tall six-member incoming freshman class...But she will become the team's tallest guard when she joins the team.


In High School

With a 3.91 GPA at Mead High School in Spokane, Washington, Freuen led her team to a AAA state championship her sophomore year when the squad finished 27-2...Regan is an AAU All-American, and was First Team All-State in each of her last two seasons...She was also listed as a USA Today and a Street & Smith's honorable mention All-American as a senior... As a junior, Regan averaged 20.1 points per game, 8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 4.5 steals at Mead High School...She chose Stanford over Arizona, Colorado, and UCLA...In her junior year, Regan's team finished 22-6 and fourth in the state...Regan was named First Team All-Greater Spokane League as a junior and senior...She was a team captain in both basketball, as well as soccer...In soccer, she was a four-year letterwinner...She also played tennis for a year (as a junior) and ran track (hurdles, as a senior)... On the academic side, Regan was a member of the National Honor Society and was on the Honor Roll at Mead.

Born April 20, 1976...Her summer jobs have included working for her dad in his dentist's office...She enjoys tennis, soccer, outdoor activities...Her given name is Regan Michelle Freuen...Had an uncle, Jim O'Rourke, who played outfield for the St. Louis Cardinals... Parent's names are Denny and Gina.
