Egypt: Cairo
In his account of the wars between the Hittites and the Egyptians, Mike Bonnie said: Egypt’s northern capital was Cairo. Ed Jajko comments; Cairo was founded in 969 A.D. RH: It is true that in 969 Jawhar, commander in chief under the Caliph al.Muizz, laid the foundations of a capital city for the Fatamid Dynasty and called it El-Cahira (Cairo). However, for centuries before that, the capital of northern Egypt had been located near this site, notably Heliopolis, whose modern name dates to Greek times.
