Syria

Mike Sullivan said: "As of now, there is no plan to invade Syria but if they are proven to harbor Iraqis that we want apprehended and they fail to heed our warnings to turn them over to US/coalition authorities then I think the Syrians will be paid clandestine visits by US Special Forces, the CIA or even the Israelis to solve the problem. The Israeli-Palestinian crisis can not be settled without rendering ineffective terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah and the Palestinian terrorist groups of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. These terrorist groups are given refuge and basing privileges in the Beka Valley in Lebanon which is under Syrian control. On April 10, the CIA made public a report to Congress where they identified Syria as a major developer of chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons systems as well as missile delivery systems. Today, Syria's capability to support terrorism is one of the biggest threats to the US's war on terrorism and will be watched very carefully".

RH: I do not know if the US plans to invade Syria, but the CIA report suggests that Syria is in the cross hairs. Much depends on the results of the visit of Colin Powell.
