SWEDEN: Religion
Dwight Peterson says: "My visiting Swedish ex-wife says that Halloween is rapidly becoming a favorite holiday in Sweden, especially among the very young who revel in trick or treating. Although nominally a Christian country there are very few churchgoers of any faith in Sweden".RH:
I am becoming concerned about Sweden. When the foreign minister, a woman, was stabbed to death in a store recently, the other customers went about their business as though nothing had happened. I am strongly in favor of a holiday for children (Christmas serves that purpose), but not of using All Souls' Day as a pretext for trick-or-treating, which is a form of juvenile gangsterism. I am dismayed that a solemn day is being displaced worldwide by it.Ronald Hilton - 11.02.03
