SOCCER: Mixed proverbs

Since both I and the Stanford Argentines were up at 4:30 to watch the soccer match playing in Japan, I said TV disproved the Spanish proverb "No por mucho madrugar amanece más temprano" (getting up early doesn't make the dawn rise sooner"). Alejo Orvañanos counters with a contradictory proverb "Al que madruga, Dios ayuda" (God helps him who gets up early). Well, the Argentines were up early, but it didn't help.
