SPORTS and Reality: The Sydney Olympics

There was no suggestion in my comments on the Olympic Games that Latin America is especially misguided. I agree entirely with the criticisms Latin Americans have sent me of the United States, Europe and other parts of the world. The phenomenon I discussed is universal. I stressed Latin America because it (and Spain) is the area to which I have devoted my life; I know it far better than most Latin Americans. At Stanford I founded the Latin American Program and Bolivar House. That I devote so much attention to Latin America is a compliment.
