Charles Pottruck, president and CEO of Charles Schwab, this week unwittingly made a contribution to our discussion of sports and life. He addressed the National Press Club on the subject of the present economic crisis. In the question period, since he had been a wrestler, he was asked what sports had taught him about life. He replied that he learned that if you are thrown to the ground you learn to get up and throw the other guy to the ground. That is his vision of life.
