SCOTLAND: Re; Eigg; slave mentality or the will to power?

Who would have thought that WAISera would become involved in a heated argument about Eigg, which few of them had heard of, and that Nietzsche would be invoked (I doubt if he had heard of Eigg either).

John Heelan wrote: "Herewith is a short history of Eigg to put the Schellenberg/Maruma fiasco into perspective: Isle of Eigg History

George Sassoon, who has first-hand knowledge of Eigg, responded: "I would not give much credence to this web site, as it is obviously the work of one of the hippie supporters of the take-over. The massacre in the cave was a disgraceful affair as bad as that at Glencoe. This is glossed over. As for the MacDonalds, Macleods, Campbells etc., they all fought each other at various times in a manner much less organised than a rugby scrimmage, where there are basically only two sides. It was like one of those old Western films where at a given signal, every man in the saloon hits the man next to him.

I regard the non-partisan German reporter's account as trustworthy. "Lies, damned lies, and Highland history!"

RH:
Die Zeit is indeed generally trustworthy.
