A letter denouncing the takeover of the Scottish island of Eigg ended "GGRRRRRR".

I said "This I presume is the sound made by a Scottish terrier".

John Heelan says "Or perhaps the sound of a landowner of a Scottish estate acquired in the mid-1940s feeling threatened by recent events and impending legislation? The old Gaelic name of Eigg is Eilean nan Ban Mhor - "the Island of the Great Lady".
