Scotland:Re: The People's Republic of Eigg
Cameron Sawyer applauds the article on the People's Republic of Eigg, Scotland, translated and forwarded by George Sassoon:"An admirably written account of an unspeakably deplorable event. This is further proof that the institution of property is the cornerstone of civilization, an idea developed, ironically, by the sages of the Scottish Enlightenment.
When the institution of property weakens, man's mob instincts take over, where taking away property from others becomes more fun and profitable than producing something yourself. The fact that in this game one person's gain is another's loss stimulates instincts of aggression and Schadenfreude, unlike the case where one honestly produces something. God help Scotland".
