report of a major terrorist attack in Casablanca. When I toured Morocco, I was struck by the difference between the old
Moorish towns (such as Rabat, Fez, Marrakech) and Casablanca, which is essentially a French creation, a modern, western
city, despite the huge mosque which the last king built on the waterfront to gain the support of the Muslims. It was precisely
Casablanca, this western enclave in Arab territory, which the terrorists chose for their spectacular terrorist act.
