Latin America and Arlen Specter

Senator Arlen Specter (R., Pennsylvania) led a congressional group which toured Latin America, His report was read into the Congressional Record, and today he summarized it in the Senate. Latin Americans would be interested in his comments, which represented a US viewpoint. He spoke mainly of his meeting with Castro, in which his stress on human rights, etc., seemed to have had a mixed reception, and Argentina, where he was especially interested in the fate of the Jewish community, the largest in Latin America. [The situation is so bad that many thousands have emigrated to Israel, despite the situation there]. He views revolutions as endemic in Latin America, and he showed concern for the fate of US corporations there [This is natural and proper. Any government tries to protect its corporations abroad. US WAISers have expressed annoyance at postings blaming the US for Latin America's difficulties].
