Most WAISers would be unable to name a single Hungarian author, partly because Hungarian, a Uro-Altaic language related to Finnish and Turkish, is virtually unknown in other countries. The best known author is Janos Arany. (1817-1882). Commenting on our discussion about translations, Steve Torok says "It had been claimed that his Hungarian version of Shakepeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is better than the original English -- to which claim I give my obviously biased support".
