JAPAN: Hiroshima and the Bomb
Ed Simmen comments, I think rightly:"After finishing my studies at the University of Texas-Austin, I accepted a commission in the USNR and was sent to an aircraft carrier stationed in Japan. The bombing of Nagasaki was criticized primarily because it was the center of Christianity in Japan. The critics wanted to know why another city not so heavily Christian was not chosen."
