ITALY and the Euro
From the UK, George Sassoon sends this message; "This is an extract from a no-euro bulletin which I receive. When we were in Italy last summer my wife and I ordered two large beers. The elderly waitress presented a bill for 5 euros, and said "five thousand" (in Italian). Obviously she was thinking of a euro as 1000 lire, even though it is more like 2,000. (neil@no-euro.com) writes: In Italy, where consumers have totally failed to get to grips with the new currency, Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is planning to reintroduce the "dual pricing" system which forces shops and businesses to display prices in both euros and lira".RH: The key word is "elderly", The younger people will grow up with the Euro. A "no-euro" bulletin is unWAIS. It should give both sides of the question.
