It is grossly unfair to say that criticizing Israel is anti-Semitic. It may be, but many people who have a great respect for
the Jews criticize Israel, as do some Jews. Sharon's actions have rekindled the anti-Semitism latent in parts of Europe.
Replying to charges that he is acting like Hitler, Sharon has compared Arafat with Hitler. Well, Hitler was dangerously
grotesque, Arafat is pathetic. Here is a sad Reuters item: "Ukrainian Jews attacked by mob: Ukrainian police said on
Monday eight people were being questioned in connection with an attack on the capital's main synagogue over the
weekend, when young men beat up Jewish worshippers and smashed windows. Ukraine's Chief Rabbi Moshe Azman
said on Sunday about 50 young men set upon those leaving the synagogue after prayers on Saturday night, shouting
"Kill the Jews" in what he described as an anti-Jewish act sparked by tension in the Middle East".
