FRANCE: From Great to Ingrate
From Greece, Harry Papasotiriou says: "The text by Dick Morris that Mike Sullivan sent us is highly interesting as an indicator of popular American feelings towards France. It is not, however, an accurate portrayal of France's role in the war on terrorism. While the French diplomatic maneuvers during the build-up for the war in Iraq were clearly and excessively anti-American, France has been among the most significant contributors in the world-wide struggle against Islamist terrorism. Indeed, the French position on the war in Iraq was that it might fuel Islamist terrorism by enraging and humiliating the "Arab street". Hopefully, the American administration of Iraq will soon be able to produce the basis of a stable, democratic and prosperous Iraq, in spite of the current difficulties. Otherwise the French fears might still materialize".Ronald Hilton - 7/4/03
