CHILE: The National Stadium
As I expected, Carlos López commented on the posting about the film "The National Stadium": "There is no such thing as a balanced view of Chile outside of Chile. One taxi driver could not believe it when I told him how Allende's Chile is viewed from the outside. There are thousands, not hundred of stories like that told by Dwight Peterson. Two weeks ago, I had a chance to stand with my three grandchildren and say to them: "Everything you see here was owned by your great grandmother until 1970. Today it is owned, not by our former workers, but by the merchants of the nearby town". A sad story, my friend Ronald".RH: Actually, there are at least two versions of recent Chilean history told in Chile. Some time Carlos must explain to me how the merchants of a nearby town ended up with the property mentioned.
