CANADA: The eastern provinces

Larry Pippin comments: "In one of the recent contributions on Canada the Maritimes are identified, but Prince Edward Island is not included. PEI is definitely one of the Maritime Provinces, even though Newfoundland is not. Canadians were third on a list of most unpleasant tourists, released on television this weekend". The Maritimes are a cluster (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Priince Edward Island) just to the south of the mouth of the St. Lawrence. Newfoundland/Labrador, further east, blocks the entrance to the river. As for unpopularity, I suppose it means that Canadians make a point of saying they are not American. What countries are 1 and 2?
