CANADA: British Columbia

Jaqui White is an extremist and she loves the extremes. She went from cool, damp Washington state to hot, dry Saudi Arabia, and now she lives in the extreme southern tip of Texas. She writes: "For over twenty years we lived north of Seattle, an hour from British Columbia. Each summer we sailed extensively in Canadian waters and in the winter skied and traveled frequently all over the province. We loved Canada and the Canadians. There was not an iota of animosity, on the contrary all were friendly, hospitable, very natural and down to earth. We constantly remarked to ourselves that Canada was the way the United States must have been one hundred years ago - the rugged life style, openness of attitude, and complete lack of pointless and baseless sophistication.

Canadians are very, very proud of being Canadians, as well they might be - it is a magnificent country. They wear the maple leaf on everything to designate this pride, as we put our flag on our sleeves, backpacks, cars to emphasize our pride in OUR country. Again, my experience with Canada has been limited to British Columbia, but it was a wonderful experience, and I have often longed to return, perhaps permanently".

My comment: Jaqui would enrich any community, but now Vancouver has sophistication, but not I believe pointless and baseless. The climate of Victorian Victoria is reportedly better.
