BRAZIL
We welcome Linda Nyquist back from Brazil. She writes: "We had a wonderful time, but the very best was in Ouro Preto. On the last night, in one of those magnificent 18th century churches, we heard Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with lyric choir of the State of Minas Gerais, the University experimental orchestra, and 4 soloists. I have NEVER heard a better presentation. The audience actually gasped collectively as the music started. It was extraordinary!" RH. The colonial period produced beautiful cities like Ouro Preto. The modern age has produced monstrosities like Sao Paulo. Progress? Beethoven to jazz. Progress?Ronald Hilton - 7/8/03
