AFGHANISTAN: A History of Invasions

The US is sensitive to the charge that it is reaping the fruit of its own actions. The posing "Afghanistan: History of Invasions" simply quoted not me, but what an expert on Afghanistan said. Paul Simon disagrees:

"Once again we see the myth that the USA somehow aided the Taliban in anti-Soviet days. The Taliban played no part in resistance to the USSR; it didn't exist then. Bin Ladin was barely past swaddling clothes in '79, though you are correct that later on in the anti-Soviet resistance, he did, indeed play a role, though hardly an important figure. The Taliban emerged during the civil war after the USSR withdrew. They may have inherited some US weapons".
