Morphology: enveloped, helical nucleocapsid; pleiomorphic in shape; "sandy" appearance

Genome: ssRNA; multipartite (an L and S strand); linear and circular; negative, with ambisense capability; replication in cytoplasm, requires intact nucleus for reasons that remain unclear
