Sexual Health Peer Resource Center (SHPRC)
The SHPRC is committed to providing sexual health resources and peer counseling to Stanford students, and to promoting safe, healthy relationships across campus. It is entirely student-run and funded, and all of the supplies and information are either free or really inexpensive. The SHPRC provides individual consultations so you can confidentially discuss your sexual concerns with a trained counselor. Drop by or call the center for all you need to know about sex and sexuality!
Products and Resources
The SHPRC offers all registered Stanford undergraduate students (with ID) $2 worth of free products each quarter. This can be applied to all of our products, including condoms, lube samples, female condoms, dental dams, organic tampons, and early pregnancy tests (EPTs).All Stanford students may purchase materials from the center at reduced cost.
The SHPRC also has a vast library of books that may be checked out with a valid Stanford ID and a cash deposit.
Prescription items are not available through the center, but are available through Vaden Student Health Center. For more information, call Vaden at (650) 723-4841.
Educational Workshops & Seminars
SHPRC offers outreach programs for residences and student groups. Past topics included contraceptive methods, sexual pleasure, and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If you have any questions, would like to request an outreach, or want to borrow any outreach materials, please email shprc.outreach@gmail.com.
Volunteer Opportunities & Academic Coursework
To become a counselor, you must complete EDUC 193S: Peer Counseling on Comprehensive Sexual Health(1 unit). The class is taught on Tuesday 7-9pm, on the second floor of Vaden. At some point either before or concurrent with your first quarter staffing at the center, you must also takeEDUC 193A: Listen Up! Core Peer Counseling Skills(2 units).
