OVERVIEW

 

The rapid growth of Asian economies, particularly those of China and India, continues to prompt U.S. and Japanese technology companies to shift the focus of their global strategies to this region. As these companies increase operations in Asia, one of their greatest concerns is the protection of intellectual property rights. 

According to a survey conducted by the American Chamber of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, 93% of American high tech enterprises think that concern about IP protection in China has a negative impact on their business. Intellectual property protection issues have kept many companies from transferring their leading technologies to other areas of Asia as well. 

In response governments are cooperating to improve and better enforce intellectual property regulations in Asia.  As these efforts yield new frameworks and policies, this Forum will bring together the perspectives of leading corporate and policy experts into the newest, best practices for U.S. and Japanese companies to produce and manage IP in their Asia business development.
