Urban Styles Dance Company
is a student-run performing arts group at Stanford University. In the year
2000, Stanford undergraduates Abe Estess and Rhiannon Meier founded Urban
Styles to provide an opportunity for Stanford students to learn and perform
jazz routines. Urban Styles continues today to be the only
group on campus dedicated to L.A.-style jazz dancing. In the group's routines,
Urban Styles strives to combine personal style
and flair with technically advanced jazz skills.
The group offers student choreographers within Urban Styles the opportunity
to create pieces for the group. Urban Styles performs at a wide variety of
events throughout the school year, from sporting events to dance concerts
to charity balls. This school year, Urban Styles will be hosting its third
annual Spring Show to showcase the dances
the group performed throughout the year.
